We are hiring a Full-Time Permanent Senior Analyst, AMI System position working out of Edmonton, AB.

 

As the Senior Analyst, AMI System, you are responsible for supporting the daily operation of EPCOR’s expansive Advanced Metering Infrastructure network deployed throughout the City of Edmonton.  In this exciting role, you will leverage strong technical expertise required to monitor, maintain and provide service assurance for EPCOR’s AMI Field Area Network, electric and water metering endpoints as well as Head End systems.  You will perform these tasks as a member of a highly engaged team dedicated to exercising a proactive approach to network assurance with a specific focus on driving service availability, systems reliability and billing data accuracy.

What you’d be responsible for

  • Supporting the ongoing maintenance and assurance of the AMI network including all hardware, software and firmware updates required to maintain RF communications, mobility backhaul, and the execution of commands required for support daily operations.
  • Providing superior troubleshooting, analysis and fault isolation support required to triage and resolve complex network issues that impede AMI communications and the collection of critical data required to deliver precise and timely billing information.
  • Performing daily network health checks and verification routines that ensure the highest levels of AMI systems and data availability.
  • Assisting in the development and ongoing refinement of processes, procedures, and tools required to proactively maintain AMI Network operations.
  • Working directly with peer teams across the organization to troubleshoot and resolve issues associated with AMI Network devices.
  • Supporting the planning and fulfillment of projects where the installation of new AMI equipment and or changes are required to grow and sustain the AMI Network.
  • Developing, delivering and executing comprehensive work plans along with associated Methods of Procedure required to conduct core maintenance routines as well as complete AMI system and Meter upgrades.
  • Assisting in the development of dashboards and reports that effectively capture key metrics to reflect network performance, AMI meter data collection as well as critical details pertaining to a meter population with over 750K network endpoints.
  • Assisting in the development and delivery of internal training and supporting documentation for use by the AMI Head End Systems Team, Meter Lab Operations and Meter Installers.
  • Ensuring that system commands and meter read schedules are being executed in accordance with billing schedules, data collection and data delivery services.

 

What’s required to be successful

  • A Bachelor of Computer Sciences, Communications / Electrical Engineering Degree, or a diploma in Electronics, Electrical or Telecommunications Technology
  • 3+ years of experience directly related to telecommunications, SCADA, LAN, WAN and cellular communications with a preferred focus on working with and supporting an AMI network (or a similar system)
  • In-depth knowledge of telecommunications systems with an emphasis on RF mesh, Mesh IP and cellular network communications
  • Strong comprehension of electric meter measurement parameters is preferred
  • A working knowledge of Landis & Gyr’s AMI Network solution is an asset
  • Previous experience data modeling, conducting analysis, presentation and dashboard development is preferred
  • Advanced technical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Competency using MS office outlook, word, excel and access
  • Adaptability is required to ensure the highest level of competency using internal systems including - Command Centre, STARS, IVARA , GeoFIT and ORACLE
  • Strong technical writing ability used to prepare clear / concise reports, correspondence, processes, procedures and supporting design documentation.
  • Hands on experience with testing methodologies and quality assurance
  • Ability to qualify for and maintain an EPCOR driver’s permit, which requires a valid Class 5 Alberta Motor Vehicle Operator's License
    • Limited to 6 demerits or less at date of hire (prior infractions for unsafe driving behaviours will be evaluated and considered for non-selection regardless of current demerits on file)
    • A Driver Abstract (5 year commercial type) will be required
    • Drivers with a GDL class may be considered (limited to 3 demerits and pending driving behavior review referenced above)

Wage: Starting at $51.89 per hour. Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the Collective Agreement that may be found online.

Hours of work: 80 hours biweekly
